Section Mission Statement

The mission of the Archivists of Religious Collections Section [ARCS], a professional interest section of the Society of American Archivists, is to serve as the network for professionals engaged in documenting the American and Canadian religious experience. ARCS' mission is to foster cooperation among archivists of religion and to exchange communication on creative practices and techniques.

We seek to generate leadership potential and encourage participation in the planning and development of future programs offered on the national scene. ARCS meetings provide a forum for the discussion of concerns common to archivists serving in religious institutions. The section's leadership participates and supports the objectives of the Society of American Archivists. Our chief purpose is to promote cooperation, communication, and professional development among archivists concerned with the preservation, use, and promotion of materials relative to religious institutions.
