Subscribing to the SAA-ARCS Member List Serve
This is a list for the Archivists of Religious Collections Section of the Society of American Archivists. The purpose of the list is to be a forum for discussing issues related to the ARCS section. To that end all questions and comments relating to ARCS, its purpose, its relationship to our profession and to SAA are appropriate. The SAA-ARCS List Serve is open to all dues-paying members of the Archives of Religious Collections Section of the Society of American Archivists. Follow the instructions below to join the ARCS-List.
How to join the ArcsSaa-list
Go to http://groups.yahoo.com. In the Find a Group box enter “ArcsSaa-list” and press Search.
Click on the ArcsSaa-list link and then select Join This Group.
If you already have a Yahoo ID, then log in and continue the list membership registration process (see below). If not, you need to go to Obtain a Yahoo ID.
Obtaining a Yahoo ID
If you don't have a Yahoo ID, then you will need one. Click on the Sign Up link and fill in the registration information. Write down your “YahooID,” as you will need it in the future if you want to change your status with the list or review archived messages. Don't forget your password either. One of the registration options is to “customize,” which you do not need to do. Also, you do not need to have Yahoo set up an e-mail account for you.
When done, you will receive an confirmation e-mail from Yahoo at your regular e-mail account. Follow the instructions and respond to the e-mail. Once you've responded you will see a link to take you back to Yahoo; click on the link to Complete registration for ArcsSaa-list.
At this point you will be asked to complete and submit the registration form. The registration form requires you to enter a comment on why you want to join the list. This is a moderated list so you need to fill out the comment. Just enter your name and your place of employment. That allows us to ensure that members of ARCS are joining the list. It is part of our method to reduce spam.
Your request then goes to the list manager (me), and once I confirm your request, you will receive an e-mail notifying you that you are an active member of the list and how to send messages.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact Dale Patterson.
